Yasmin’s sessions usually go for 50 – 55 minutes and you can speak with her via Telephone, Facetime, Zoom (encrypted) or Video Link (encrypted) on your phone, tablet, or computer. Please let Yasmin or her admin know which mode you prefer when booking your appointment.
The first session usually involves getting to know each other and understanding the reasons and/or goals you have for coming to counselling. Yasmin understands it is not always easy speaking to a counsellor, so she will go at the client’s pace and tailor each session to the client’s needs. It is important that the client feels comfortable and safe in the session.
It is also important that you are in a safe, comfortable, and quiet location, where you can speak privately and confidentially with Yasmin.
For those less familiar with technology, you may prefer to speak with Yasmin via telephone. Yasmin will call you at the time of your appointment.
For those more familiar with mobiles, tablets, or computers you have several options:
Facetime, Zoom or Video link. You will also need access to Wifi 4G or 5G.
For Facetime you will need either an iPhone or iPad. Yasmin will call you at the time of your appointment.
For Zoom you will need to have an account with Zoom and have downloaded the Zoom app prior to the appointment. Yasmin will send you the Zoom meeting details the morning of your appointment.
For Video Link you will need either a mobile phone, iPad, Tablet, computer, or laptop. You will be sent a link with your appointment booking and you can click on the link to see and speak with Yasmin.

How often a client attends varies for each client and depends on the issues they are addressing. In general, clients will often see Yasmin weekly to fortnightly in the beginning and then monthly or when they feel it is needed.
Speak with your Dr. about your needs and they may complete a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) for you. Each Dr writes them differently, but it is similar to a referral, and you will be able to claim a Medicare rebate of $98.95 (current rebate) online after your appointment with Yasmin.
If you get a MHCP, your Dr. will generally issue it for 6 sessions and Yasmin will write a general review letter back to your Dr. after your 6th session. If you require more sessions, Yasmin will recommend you speak with your Dr for a review and you may be eligible for another 4 sessions.
Please note that Medicare Rebate is currently for a maximum of 10 sessions per calendar year.
Invoices will be emailed after the session, and you can pay the invoice via internet banking. The invoice will include all the banking details and please reference your name and invoice number when paying. Once payment is received, your receipt will be emailed to you. You can then use the receipt to claim online with Medicare or your Private Health if applicable.
Alternatively, you can pay by phone or in-person at Bardon Counselling (07 3368 1300).
If you have a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your Dr. you will be able to claim a rebate with Medicare once you have paid for your appointment. Once payment has been received you will be emailed a receipt with the Medicare details on it, and you can then go online to Medicare to claim the $98.95 rebate. Medicare usually deposits the rebate into your bank account within 24 hours.
If you have Private Health, you may be able to claim online and receive a rebate from your Private Health Fund. Because the amounts vary depending on your level of cover, you will need to check with your private health fund to check the amount you may be eligible to receive.

Or you will be sent a reminder 2 days before your appointment and asked to confirm or cancel your appointment. If you need to cancel your appointment, please give at least 48hrs notice and you will not be charged a cancellation fee.
If you cancel your appointment under 24hrs notice, a 50% cancellation fee will be charged.
If you fail to show for your appointment, the full fee will be charged.
